Scope: Renovations of an existing chalet in the heart of Hotham Heights. The project included the replacement of existing degraded external timber framing with galvanised steel.
Design Highlights: Understanding existing load paths was critical in determining the suitability and support of new structural elements. With no existing drawings, site inspections and reverse engineering were used to develop an understanding of the existing structure.
Project Features: Access and safety during construction were key considerations, new floor sections and the external balcony were designed as transportable modules that could easily be installed on-site with minimal exposure.
