Clover Power Station Upgrade

Client: AGL Energy
Scope: Clover Power Station is undergoing a turbine upgrade, in this project KUSCH has the following scope:
- Designing an increase in tail bay wall height to generate back pressure required by new turbines
- Design of new transformer bund
- Design verification of loads from new turbines on existing structure
- Design of penetrations in the existing floor slab
Design Considerations:
- Coordinating the new and existing structure, which was originally built in 1944
- Verifying capacity of existing reinforced concrete structures to modern standards
- Testing of concrete to understand remaining design life alongside capacity
- High hydrostatic loading and dynamic loading
- Coordination with external CFD consultant to ensure optimum turbine operation through tail bay outflow
